Dear Travelers ツ,
How are you?
Did you miss me? 😌
Unfortunately my pc broke and I have not been able to write for a while. Also I have been super busy at work. Peak season they say…Well whatever, I’m currently on a plane and super happy because I’ll be spending 4 relaxing days at the beach, discovering a new place.
But, before spoiling my next destination, let me share with you the last place I’ve been to.
Sea, long beaches, relax, palms trees, waves, wind… Fuerteventura!
And it’s been almost 2 months already 😨
Time is flying. Just like me 😌
This time we did not feel like bringing Romeo with us as he is not a beach boy. Moreover we had checked some options and in Canary Islands dogs are not really allowed in close places and beaches.
Day 1 to 3
The first stop of our trip was Caleta de Fuste, a village located at about 15 min by car from the airport. We spent 3 nights there.
This place is very quiet so it’s great for families and who wants to relax. There are a lot of activities you can take part at, and enough places where to enjoy a meal or a drink sea view.
On our first day, first things first, we had pancakes for breakfast at The Pickled Palm.
Price: about 10 €/pp for a complete breakfast
Address: Calle Marcial Sanchez Velasquez, 14, Local 8, 35610 Castillo Caleta de Fuste, Las Palmas, Spain
Curiosity about Caleta: there are more British people than Canarians. Indeed there are a lot of English places: bars, doctors, markets..so you may end up speaking English instead of Spanish.

Here’s our itinerary from Caleta
1. Mirador Guise y Ayose: this stop is a must for your trip as it is a great view point.
The are two statues made of bronze which measure almost four meters high, and represent the two kings Guise and Ayose with their command rods. Guise and Ayose were the two kings of Fuerteventura which at that time was divided in two reigns: Jandia and Maxorata
Address: 35637 Betancuria, Las Palmas, Spain - about 20 min by car from Caleta
Free Parking available on site.

2. Iglesia de Santa María de Betancuria: This church is one of the most representative and historic buildings of Fuerteventura. One reason is that inside there are several works of great historical value. The second one has to do with its location. In fact it is located in the center of the Historic Village of Betancuria, the oldest city of Canary Islands and the old capital of the Islands.
The village is little but very suggestive as it’s surrounded by incredible landscapes.
Address: Pl. Sta. María de Betancuria, 1, 35637 Betancuria, Las Palmas, Spain - about 30 min by car from Caleta / less than 10 from Mirador Guise
Free Parking available a few min walking from the city center (which can’t be accessed by car)

3.Ajuy: For lunch we went to Ajuy and chose the restaurant “La Pescadora”, where we enjoyed some fresh fish. Indeed the owners fish it themselves and then cook it and serve it at their restaurant. The place is very intimate so I would recommend to reserve it especially during high season.
Price: 20/25 €/ pp
Address: C. Puerto Azul, 35628 Ajuy, Las Palmas, Spain
Free Parking available at C. Puerto Azul, 1, 35628 Ajuy (less than 5 min walking from the restaurant)
In the afternoon we went to the beach of this fishing village, which is located at less than 10 min walking from the restaurant. The sand is fine and black as it’s volcanic, and the waves are stronger than in some Caleta, however it is one of the most chosen beach Canarians enjoy to relax. Moreover, it is part of a Protected Natural Area in which there are spectacular volcanic caves.
Address: 35637 Betancuria, Las Palmas, Spain - about 20 min by car

4. Playa Esmeralda: located at about 15 min from Caleta. One of my favourites beaches visited during this trip. Large and quite beach, crystal water.
Address: 35627 Jandia, Provincia di Las Palmas, Spain
Free Parking available on site

Day 3 to 6
On the 3rd day we moved to Corralejo, the capital of this island, where we spent 3 nights.
Here’s our itinerary from Corralejo
1. Playa de los Verilitos: one of the pop corn beaches of Corralejo. Pop corn? Well, not really, but these small algae fossils actually look like popcorn!
Address: 35660 Playa de los Verilitos, Corralejo, Spain
Free Parking available on site.

2. Corralejo Viejo: a few meters from playa de los verilitos, you can get to this sandy beach which has a great view on Isla de Lobos and some nice beach bars where to have an aperitivo. Our favorite one was Sand Beach where we had a great daiquiri and croquetas
Address: 35660 Corralejo Viejo, Spain
Free Parking available on site.

3. Parque Natural de Corralejo: The most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. Looks like Maldives or Bahamas but with colder water. A paradise. You can get there by car, park on the street and walk a few min or take the bus ne. 6 line Corralejo-Puerto del Rosario.
Address: 35660 Parque Natural de Corralejo, Spain
Free Parking available on site.

4. Playa de la Concha: as we wanted to visit El Cotillo, a fishing village located on the west coast of the island, we decided to stop fort at playa de la concha, one of the most famous beaches of the island.
White sand and calm turquoise waters, great for families and anyone who wants to relax. And its proximity to the town gives you the opportunity to watch breathtaking sunsets.
Address: 35650 Los Lagos, Las Palmas, Spain - 25 min by car from Corralejo
Free parking available on site

To watch the sunset we went to Mirador Alto Grande where there’s a bench in the shape of a boat. It’s a great view point, and one more tip, it’s even better if you watch the sunset with a pizza. We picked up ours at Pizzeria Teperino.
Price: about 10 eur/ pp pizza+drink
Address: C. Pinito del Oro, 3, 35650 El Cotillo, Las Palmas, Spain
Free parking available in the nearby

5.Tour of ISLA DE LOBOS: Isla de Lobos is an island located between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. The whole place is a Natural Park full of beaches and natural pools, a great beauty!
There are a lot of activities available such as excursions around the island by feet or by boat, snorkeling, surfing..
Since it’s a natural park the access is limited and has to be reserved a few days before the trip.
If you are in Corralejo and want to visit the island, I suggest to purchase the ticket through Getyourguide. The ticket includes the round trip by boat to the island and the access, but there are also other options. We chose the ticket which includes the round trip from Corralejo + boat tour+the snorkeling experience+ 1 free drink as we wanted to try snorkeling and the cost was very fair. The trip to the island takes about 20/25 min, and you can decide how long you want to stay there. We left at 10, and stayed there until 13. The snorkeling experience takes starts at around 13.30/14 after the boat tour, so they pick you up at 13. Then you can decide if to go back to the island and stay a little longer (I think until 16:30/17), or if to go back to Corralejo.
Getyourguide: https://www.getyourguide.it/fuerteventura-l419/isola-di-lobos-ingresso-e-snorkeling-da-corralejo-t305928/
Prices: 17,50 € pp without snorkeling / 25,50 € pp with snorkeling
Pick up point: “Naviera Nortour” at Muelle de Corralejo, Corralejo, Spain

6.Restaurante Los Compadres: last suggestion about Corralejo is this restaurant. They do not accept reservations. Is very intimate and they serve great paella, and fresh fish. Moreover you can try Lojas which is a typical dish of Fuerteventura.
Price: 20/25 € pp
Address: Calle la Ballena, Corralejo, Spain
Free parking available at Bristol Parking, C. Virgen de la Candelaria, 4, 35660 Corralejo, Las Palmas (7 min walking)

Day 6 to 9
For the last part of our trip we decided to visit the south of the island and spent 3 nights in Pajara. Our litttle apartment had a very nice sea view and was at about 10 min walking from the beach.
1. Playa de Morro Jable: white sand, turquoise and calm waters, lot of palms, definitely one of my favorite beaches of Fuerteventura!
Four kilometers of beach bordered by an avenue full of shops and restaurants, and by the Saladar de Jandía, a Site of Scientific Interest because it preserves a type of vegetation very rare in the Canary Islands, resistant to salt water.
You can easily rent chairs and umbrellas for about 9 €/day or enjoy water sports such as surfing or kayaking.
There's also a nice viewpoint from where you get an awesome view over the beach Mirador del Morro.

Suggested: Restaurant Laja de Morrojable. Ask for a table inside with sea view, it left us speechless. We had some pannò shrimps and their paella for dinner and it was amazing he. We loved everything and the price was very fair.
Price: 25/30 € pp
Address: Av. Tomás Grau Gurrea, 1, 35625 Morro Jable, Las Palmas, Spain
Free parking available at Avenida del Faro, Morro Jable (less of 10 min walking)

2. Playa de Esquinzo-Butihondo: golden sand and quiet turquoise waters. It has a wide variety of amenities to spend the day at the beach. Along the beach there are bars and hotels where to eat, while next to the sea you can find a lot of establishments which offer courses for water sports and where you can rent umbrellas and loungers.
Address: 35626 Esquinzo, Las Palmas, Spain
Free parking available on site.

Day 10
The last day of our trip we went back to Caleta de Fuste to be closer to the airport. On our way back we stopped at Playa de Sotavento, the best known beach on the island worldwide. Nine kilometers of beach with permanent sun, huge natural pools, a paradise. It is the best beach for windsurfing and kitesurfing in Jandía.

As I said, for our last night we went back to Caleta de Fuste and we decided last minute to book a hotel room at Barceló Fuerteventura Royal Level as we liked the idea of spending our last night with the comforts only a hotel can provide. In Caleta de Fuste there are 4 Barceló hotels and it's crazy to see that a big part of the city is owned by them.
Anyways, even if it was only for a few hours, we had a great stay.

And this is it for our trip to Fuerteventura. Would I go back? YES, pleasee.
Are there more places to visit? Of course
Best months of the year September/October to December.
Hope you enjoyed the post. Stay tuned and.. enjoy the journey!
